In Shop: Wood Repair and Restoration

We come to your location and pick-up your damaged furniture and/or wood pieces and transport them to our shop. Stripping and refinishing is done by hand – to the customer specifications. All wooden surfaces get the finest treatment to restore the look you desire – from old to new. We also can change the color to match any existing furniture. We apply the best finishes for protection and enhancement of your wood furniture. Custom matching finishes and colors are our forte. We deliver the restored and repaired items at your convenience.

Stripping and Refurbishing

Depending on the original finish used and the effect of the overall damage to the surface, we sometimes need to proceed with a process of removing the original finish (lacquer, varnish or catalyzed finish). Removing the finish can be done chemicaly, heat or with physical force (abrasive). Sometimes ist takes all three methods. Stripping off old finish is always very labor intensive. The next step in the refurbishing process is cleaning the wood suface. In applying solvents to remove left-over finish, stain and impurities the wood’s natural state is restored. Next, the wood is hand-sanded. The newly smooth surface is ready for the final touch. Adding the finish of your choice – any sheen from high-gloss, semi-gloss, satin, or flat.
